Simple Ways to Save Money

Ever wish that you could save money effortlessly? Follow these simple guidelines and watch the dollars add up!

1. Save all of your dollars and change. Set aside a container to use as your piggy bank. As soon as you get dollar bills or coins in change deposit into your piggy bank. You won't believe how fast this will add up.

2. Pay yourself first. Designate an amount to be taken out of your paycheck before it is spent on anything else. Increase or decrease according to your comfort level but always take out something.

3. Cut back on your utility bills. Small adjustments which are hardly noticeable can save you a lot in the long run. Turn the heat back several degrees. Spend a few less minutes in the shower. Use cold water for the laundry.

4. Instead of dining out, order take-out. Every other time that you would go out to a restaurant, order take-out instead. You will save money on drinks and tipping.

5. Take advantage of free entertainment. Most cities and towns usually have events and gatherings that are free of charge. How about a concert in the park, a library event, or taking a walk in a historic location? Skip the movies and try something different.

6. Stay home. Instead of going out on the town, stay home and invite over some friends. Have everyone bring their favorite appetizer and a game. Suggest that someone else host the next time.

7. Make your laundry last. Think about what goes into that hamper. Can you get one more wear out of that shirt? Do the sheets really need changing yet? Do you need a fresh towel every single day? This one step will cut your water and electricity expenses significantly.

8. Review your expenses once a year. Make yourself aware of what you are spending your money on. Are you paying for cable channels that you never watch? Do you need that many minutes for your cell phone? Can you find a better price on insurance?

If you follow these tips you'll be on your way to simple saving.
